Why foster?
There is always a special bunny that will flourish in a foster home with dedicated attention. Many of these rabbits are abandoned pets, forced to make the dramatic change of living outside. These rabbits would love some extra attention in a home to really make them feel loved.
Fostering is great because…
You are helping a rabbit by giving them a safe place to stay while they search for their forever home.
Most pet stores sell rabbits without providing proper education to new owners. Rabbits are the same commitment as a cat or a dog and they have a specific set of needs. Fostering is a great way to see if rabbit ownership is right for you and your family.
Rabbits can be expensive, especially when it comes to their vet bills! WRRR supplies everything needed aside from the rabbit’s nightly salad. We will also continue to pay for their annual exam and vaccine as well as any medical emergencies.
What do I need to foster?
A spacious area to keep the rabbit - our bunnies are kept in large pens (4ft x 4ft or 6ft x 2ft) with playtime outside the pen.
You must be able to purchase veggies for their nightly salad. All other food (pellets and hay) and supplies can be provided.
Lots of patience! Your new friend is a prey animal, it is important to understand that they may need some time to warm up to your family.
Love to give! Fosters should be able to dedicate time on a daily basis to spend time with the rabbit.
